History looks different when you meet it on the road.

Dates and names can tell us when something happened and who was there. But they cannot always show us what it might have felt like to arrive in an unfamiliar place, to hear another language spoken around the fire, to encounter customs we do not understand, or to witness a moment without knowing what history will eventually make of it.

Traveler’s Tales approaches the past through the eyes of the observer.

Some travelers cross seas into unfamiliar cultures. Others wander into legends and encounter people whose names will outlive them. Still others may travel no farther than a mountain, valley, village, or family home—places where ordinary lives quietly became part of a larger story.

The traveler may be imagined.

The world surrounding them is not.

These stories are grounded in the people, places, customs, landscapes, and historical circumstances that inspired them. The traveler gives us something the records cannot: a companion through whom we can enter that world.
Sometimes they will understand what they see.

Sometimes they will get it completely wrong.

And sometimes, like Marcus arriving in Hibernia expecting one thing and discovering something altogether different, the traveler will be changed by the journey. His first dispatch begins with precisely that collision between expectation and experience. 

Here, history is allowed to become a place again.
